I had a chance to work with Frank from DesignStory for home renovation ideas and quotation matter, I must say Frank is probably the best ID I have interacted sofar. In terms of profession, he is definitely a strong domain expert who is not only able to offer professional opinions but as well vast field experience. I was amazed by his fast response despite of short leadtime (merely 3 days :[ ), he managed to provide few 3D design views which captured my subtle tastes with a full quotation. (Which tells he is very observant! And still feel very apologetic about my tight request, hope there weren’t too many midnight oil burned, sorry !).

Frank is sincere, straightforward and empathetic, he even tried to put himself in other ID’s shoes to analyze the pros and cons for us, whom i felt he is somebody we can entrust for a big project for.

DesignStory price is considerably reasonable in the market and definitely not at the expensive range (at least the rank in my 10 quotations comparisons). Although eventually we didn’t engage Frank’s service due to other personal reasons, he had left us a true positive impression in such a short encounter. Should not miss Frank next time@

First and foremost, we’d like to express our gratitude to Andy and Ferlynna for their exceptional efforts in expediting our condo renovation, completing it within a month. Our primary focus for this renovation project was the living room and kitchen area, where they demonstrated their expertise. The main areas of attention included the false ceiling, flooring, and cabinetry.

To be frank, considering the tight timeline, they did a remarkable job on these three key aspects. Their ideas and suggestions added a unique touch to our initial renovation plans. What truly stood out was their professionalism in aligning their suggestions with our daily needs, preferences, and budget constraints. Their carpentry skills and workmanship left us impressed and satisfied.

One minor hiccup we encountered was a delay in the supply chain for aluminum frames due to Feng Shui restrictions that prevented us from drilling post-move-in. This required us to schedule a follow-up installation after we settled into our new home. While this issue was beyond their control, it could have been mitigated with a slight extension of the renovation timeline by 1-2 weeks, benefiting both parties.

Additionally, we were unaware of the timeline for the installation of a gas meter, which has yet to be addressed. It appears that this should have been integrated into the renovation timeline, and it was a missed opportunity for our interior designer (ID) to address this aspect. Despite this, the overall renovation work was impressive and deserves a solid 4.5/5 rating, with no regrets.

We also appreciate the electrician, painter, and plumber services they provided. The electrician, in particular, offered a competitive and reasonable quote compared to our previous experiences with electricians for HDB flats. We extend our gratitude to these professionals for their expertise and efficiency. We would rate the electrician, plumber, and painter with a commendable 4.5/5 for their pricing and workmanship.

In conclusion, we are delighted with the renovation outcome and the services provided by Andy, Ferlynna, and their team. Despite a couple of minor hiccups, the overall experience was positive, and we would not hesitate to engage them in future.

Like many young couples, we started our BTO renovation journey by sourcing through many many different Interior Designers. There were those that were superficial, to those that were super pushy. We even had some that requested for a deposit for them to provide a quotation.

Design Story is probably our 10th IDs we’ve met and prior to that, the experience was super daunting. Having heard horror stories from our friends on their renovation, we definitely do not want to go through the process of chasing after our IDs or having them ghosted us especially after waiting for our BTO for more than 5 years.

Our project was assigned to Emily who is a humorous and highly responsible lady. The first meeting was really pleasant and we were even shocked that she suggested not to do certain items so we could save money. None of the IDs we met previously will put themselves in our shoes and try understanding from our perspective. For example, our kitchen layout is pathetically tiny and no other ID was able to provide a practical and yet aesthetic design. Emily was able to make use of dead spaces and came up with a solution to fit our needs and lifestyle. She provided us with a detailed timeline which was closely followed and handed over the house that looks 99% similar to the 3D drawing.

During the renovation period, Emily would personally go down weekly (sometimes 2 times a week) to check and take videos of the progress. We missed out on some of the defects and instead of covering up, she would make sure that it’s rectify nicely and properly. (I mean, which IDs would still point out minor defect on the day of handover? *haha*) We learnt a lot from her and it’s sad that our renovation journey had come to an end.

Overall, the process was smooth sailing and transparent. A big thank you to Emily and her team, we had no regret engaging The Design Story and we highly recommend their service.

Great experience working with Design Story for the renovation of my 4-room resale HDB. They were professional, familiar with HDB regulations, and very communicative. Frank is obviously experienced in the renovation business and the sub-contractors were well-managed. Our designer and project manager was Jason who was patient dealing with our questions and worked hard to resolve issues that cropped up in the course of the work.

I chose Design Story initially mainly because their quotation was detailed and outlined all the works that needed to be done to achieve what we wanted, so there were no surprises with the bill at the end of the day. They do carpentry work in-house; they pay attention to it, and the quality is good. Had engaged Design Story for the renovation to our condo apartment. We share common design style and ideas while they also listen to our requirement and constraints.

Design Story produce decent 3D and aligned to what we need to achieve for our desired Carpentry work. Calm and patient during our discussion and also at time adapt to our last minutes changes. Given great advise to the selection of material and choice of colours for various installation which we greatly appreciate.

Honest & On The Ball

Consulted several IDs before choosing Design Story’s service. No doubt that their fees are on a steeper side, the pivot point was the effort of 3D drawings they presented in retrospect to other IDs. 80% true to fact that their drawings are translated in the real life. If it can’t be done, truthful feedbacks are given.

Ultimately, Design Story’s team will deliver and uphold upon what’s agreed. Before going to any ID is important to know what you want. I was selective on what I want, contrary, my mum was clueless. Design Story was patient and much willing to acknowledge our needs and designed what we like.

We were introduced to Design Story through our friends referral. Being new first time owners, they are able to gather our ideas and manifest them into reality. Design Story is professional and knows their stuff well and was able to answer our queries and provide quick alternatives when materials were out of stock or when issues cropped up along the way.

Fortunate To Meet Design Story

The journey looking for the right interior designer (ID) quite difficult for a plan major renovation for a recent purchased unit in August 2021. Conducted a search on good renovation companies. Sadly many customers seen with unpleasant experienced with poor actual renovation outcomes. Quite worried, as not sure who could be trusted for a good, right ID. Even more difficult to find an ID person with honesty, integrity with good quality reliable workmanship.

Then started to search for more sincere genuine renovation reviews. Then see more issues on client’s problems during and after their renovations. As looking for an ID with own carpentry workshop with good carpentry workmanship skills so few. Then started to test how well ID communication skills was. See if their sincere communication skill response good enough, especially concerning design, cost, timeline, inventory issues, manpower, etc. Few responded with sincerity. Few eager to sign immediately without proper explanation and planning details. Few giving good, expensive free gifts package deals (which too good to be true).

Then meet Frank, from Design Story. In the first contact, felt good as his personality of a good person, showed clearly. Means a sign of a person with sincerity and honesty. Very glad and felt fortunate to meet Design Story. Completed the dream house renovation recently with nice modern design in Feb 2022. Won Us With Their Effort, All We Can Say Are Good Words

Firstly, i would like to commend Design Story for being the best ID amongst the rest that we have surveyed. They were the only ID that gave us a clear quotation with digital drawing for us to view their works. It was impressive!

The main reason why we actually decided to choose Design Story as our ID. Most of the IDs we surveyed, (we surveyed about 6-7 IDs) only gave us a generic quotation with nothing to visualize on. First impressions are the most important and Frank won us with their first effort! It was the main factor that made us decide to have him as our ID. We knew we were in good hands with Design Story as they are always frank about the reality of some of the renovation ideas.

Secondly, Design Story made sure that everything was seamless from the very start, and I must say, it was a smooth sailing experience. Every week, we came to our bto to see progress being done for our renovation and we were very very impressed. Every week surely there was something that was done.

Thirdly, despite the Covid situation, they were able to coordinate and communicated clearly of every aspect of the renovation well and there was no long waiting times for each aspects. Design Story made it convenient for us during selection of tiles and colour schemes by shortlisting those that fit our home concept. Everything was laid out for us in the office and we didn’t have to go down to some tile shops to view even. I feel that this was great as, if he had brought us to a tile shop to choose the tiles and colours, we would eventually be so spoiled of the many choices and wasted time to pick out what we wanted. Design Story narrowed down our choices and it was such a breeze settling all the tiles selection.

Fourthly, we had started our renovation mid of August, and the whole renovation lasted for 3 months. We moved in comfortably by mid November. Seriously, the renovation took place fast and with great quality. We had neighbours who started their renovation the same time as us, and still not done with their renovation even up till date, Feb 2022. So i must really thank Design Story for being efficient and for all of his hardwork. They would always reply to any of our concerns within minutes regardless of time and we always seek their great opinion when it comes to getting the home appliances so as to match the concept of the renovation. Design Story made everything easy with their feedback.

Last but not least, definitely there were some little hiccups, but Design Story rectified everything almost immediately or the next working day. They always reassured us that any problems or dissatisfaction will be addressed and rectified. We had some issues with our Island+dining table but Design Story made sure to rectify it before handing over the house to us. We could see their sincere effort to make sure things were rectified up to our satisfaction, as they went down on their own to fix the things we pointed out to him. They are definitely a very reliable ID and would go out of the way to make sure their clients are happy with his works. I am really happy with how the house turned out.

In comparison with the digital drawings he had for us, it was definitely 95% similar! All i can say are good words for Design Story. It’s a major plus point to engage a Renovation ID that has In-House Carpentry during these Covid times, to ensure all works are running smoothly. We’re fortunate to have them as our ID as to be honest they are very meticulous and will factor in all the little little details that we home owners might overlook. They are strong on aesthetics and practicality which is in line with our expectations as well.

My husband and I are very happy to have engaged Design Story and to have them as our ID. We love our home so much and all of our relatives are shocked with how big and spacious our home look like despite it being a 4 room bto, all thanks to Design Story. After going through a few IDs listed from Qanvast, we decided on Design Story. Ryan was our ID. He was approachable and understand what we wanted for our home. He carefully planned and knows how to utilize spaces and work within our budget range.

Having a built-in (full length) wardrobe for the master and the common room, each compartment designed to cater to our clothes size. On top of that we had a hidden shoe rack (hides our bomb shelter at the same time), a cabinet space, and a prayer hall. These align seamlessly in our living room. We wanted to have more light entering the house, hence we decided on haking half of the kitchen wall without compromising storage options. We had cabinets on both sides of the kitchen with perfect cutouts for the fridge and a tall cabinet for our oven. Even after the renovation, Ryan is easily contactable to rectify issues that we faced.

We engaged the services of Design Story after shortlisting and meeting at least 10 IDs. We chose our ID Dorothy Seah as she came across as punctual, genuine, meticulous and experienced. Her quote was slightly above average, but was reasonable given her good services. Initially, we did not want to do a “full” renovation for our resale unit, but with her advice on the pros/cons, and drawbacks, we embarked on a full renovation of 2 toilets, 1 kitchen, 1 study area and wardrobes for 2 bedrooms. She provided good recommendations based on our criteria of being functional, easy-to-clean and going with neutral tones. She also took much time to answer many of my pre-reno questions, even before our engagement, which I greatly appreciate.

We are very thankful to have chosen Dorothy. Her project management skills were superb — she carefully planned out our renovation schedule, and followed-up closely with us on outstanding decisions. She planned ahead and asked us for our decisions on many minute details way in advance, this made our actual reno execution part very seamless. Given there are so many decisions to be made and so many moving parts, I would say most works went smoothly as planned (hmm, based on many reno horror stories I’ve heard, this was rare)! She completed our renovation project about 1 week before the projected completion date. Workmanship by the tilers and carpenters are pretty decent. Post-renovation touch-ups were also promptly done. All in all, we are very pleased to have hired Dorothy as our ID, and we would highly recommend her to our friends and family.

We were fortunate to have Frank as our ID for our latest home. We are very pleased with his service and the quality of the renovation works rendered. End Result Turns Out To Be Better Than Expectations

I would like to drop a feedback on Frank as I just did my house reno with him. He did such a wonderful job on my new home and my neighbours, friends and family also stated that he did a great job on my house. The house color theme and concept blends in very well. The wood used and carpentry work is good and Frank looked into every detail of the design of the carpentry such as measurement and cutting of my settee making it less bulky and my cabinet door can still open wide at masterbedroom despite of the king size bed. He makes my tiny cute house look spacious. He is also very responsive when I have any enquiries. He takes care of the reno process seamlessly and coordinates well with plumber and electrician well too. Surprisingly, his 3D design turn out exactly the same as the actual one.
